Affiliate Disclosures & Editorial Policy

How TaxAtlas funds itself, what partner relationships exist, and what that means for the recommendations on this site.

How TaxAtlas funds itself

TaxAtlas is an independent research project. It is funded by three sources:

  1. Lead referrals — when a reader requests help via the Get Help page and is referred to an independent specialist, TaxAtlas may receive a referral fee from that specialist on engagement. The reader is never charged a premium for the referral; the fee comes from the specialist\'s standard marketing budget.
  2. Affiliate partnerships — listed below. When a reader signs up for one of these services via a link on TaxAtlas, the site may earn a commission from the provider. This does not change the price for the reader.
  3. Reader donations and direct support — occasional.

What we will not do

  • Recommend a product solely because it pays a higher commission. Recommendations are based on the service genuinely being among the better options for the audience reading that page.
  • Hide the relationship. Every affiliate or sponsored placement is labelled, and outbound affiliate links carry the rel="sponsored" attribute as required by Google and standard web disclosure norms.
  • Modify tax data, country scores, or comparison rankings based on commercial relationships. The country dataset is editorially independent; partners are recommended in adjacent slots, never woven into rankings.
  • Sell email addresses or share them with partners without explicit opt-in. The cheat sheet mailing list is for TaxAtlas communications only.

Current partner relationships

No active affiliate relationships at this time. This page will be updated as partner relationships are confirmed.

How recommendations are sourced

For each category (money transfer, expat insurance, US expat tax preparation, residency consultancy, etc.), we identify the providers that:

  • Operate legitimately under their home regulator (where applicable)
  • Have a meaningful track record with the relevant audience
  • Offer transparent pricing and clear cancellation
  • Are commonly recommended in independent expat / nomad communities

Partner status (paid commission) is a tiebreaker among otherwise comparable options — not a primary inclusion criterion.

How to flag a concern

If a recommended service has wronged you, or you spot a relationship that isn\'t disclosed properly, please contact us. We take this seriously — credibility is the only durable asset this site has.

TaxAtlas is not a licensed tax, legal, or financial practice. All recommendations are general; engagement with any referred specialist is a decision the reader makes on their own judgement.
